Community Spirit

Harrison Ford has given us so many memorable roles. For me, the best one would be his role as John Book in the thriller, Witness (1985). Ford plays a tough romantic hero trying to save a boy who has witnessed a murder and as a result, was being hunted.  He ventured into Lancaster County, Pensilvania where the boy came from. This was the place of the Amish people who have preserved centuries old tradition of low technology and making things by hand. One scene I remember so well all these years is the barn raising scene. I always think it is a magical moment when people pull together to build something- men, women and children. I found this video dubbed in German.
