Wooden Dolls

Though the tone of my last post might suggest that we are living in a forced exile status. Not quite, since we can come back to some of our latest addiction, that is toy making. Michel has become totally passionate about making wooden creatures to the point where he is always imagining what he could make with loose bits of wood and anything else that he could find.

เนื้อหาในโพสต์ที่แล้วอาจจะทำให้บางคนคิดว่าเราต้องตกอยู่ในสภาพผู้ลี้ภัยที่น่าสงสาร แต่ไม่ใช่ซะที่เดียวเพราะเราได้กลับมาทำอะไรที่เราติดกันงอมแงม นั่นก็คือการทำตุ๊กตา มิเชลกลายเป็นคนปลื้มการประดิษฐ์จากไม้เป็นทั้งรูปคนและสัตว์ถึงขนาดว่าเห็นเศษไม้ที่ไหนไม่ได้ต้องจินตนาการว่าจะทำเป็นตัวอะไรดี

It all started when we decided to get some curtain rods in Soi Prachanarumit. For those who do not know, this is THE STREET for all wood-working enthusiasts. Michel ended up making frequent trips there on his own and came home with wooden sticks and balls of various sizes. Those things remained as house display for a long time in Khao Yai. Then one day I asked him if he could make me some kokeshi dolls. He never made a kokechi doll but he assembled the wooden parts into this instead. I did the styling, hair and make-up.

เรื่องมันมีอยู่ว่าครั้งหนึ่งเราอยากได้ราวแขวนผ้าม่านเลยไปหาซื้อที่ซอยประชานฤมิตร สำหรับคนที่ไม่รู้จักซอยนี้ ขอบอกว่าเป็นสุดยอดศูนย์รวมค้าส่งงานไม้และเครื่องไม้เครื่องมือของช่างไม้ หลังจากนั้นมิเชลก็กลับไปคนเดียวอีกหลายรอบเพื่อไปช็อปสิ่งละอันพันละน้อยทั้งลูกบอลและแท่งไม้ทุกแบบทุกไซส์มาเก็บเอาไว้ เราเอาไปวางโชว์ไว้เล่นๆในบ้านเขาใหญ่อยู่ตั้งนานจนกระทั่งวันหนึ่งฉันบอกว่าเราน่าจะเอาชิ้นส่วนเหล่านี้มาประกอบเป็นตุ๊กตาโคเคชิบ้าง มิเชลไม่ได้ทำตุ๊กตาโคเคชิแต่ทำตุ๊กตาตัวนี้เป็นตัวแรก ฉันรับหน้าที่เป็นสไตลิสต์เสื้อผ้าหน้าผม

Then he made this.
แล้วก็ทำ……

And this.
กับ………..

Then the whole thing became an obsession.

การทำตุ๊กตาไม้กลายเป็นสิ่งที่ขาดไม่ได้เสียแล้ว

He is now branching out into Pop Art.
